What Is It?

Regular brushing, flossing, and visits to your dentist are the best steps you can take to prevent this condition.

What Are the Symptoms?

Patients with the disease often first notice a touch of pink on their toothbrush bristles, a sign that their gums are bleeding.

Other cues that this condition on is present include:

Swollen, tender or soft gums Bad breath Change in the color of the gums from a healthy pink to dusky red.

If you observe any of these symptoms, it's a good idea to see your dentist right away.

How Can a Dentist Help?

Gingivitis is a common problem, and your dentist will probably diagnose it with little difficulty.

Your dentist's goal will be to reduce the inflammation and to show you the best techniques to ensure that it is kept to a minimum. You will receive a thorough cleaning to loosen and remove all plaque and tartar. If your gingivitis is caused or aggravated by misaligned teeth or dental appliances, your dentist may also consider adjusting your mouth accordingly.

Is More Gingivitis in Your Future?

Once the problem has been treated, you should see a marked reduction in swelling and gum irritation within two or three weeks. However, your gingivitis will recur if you do not continue to practice good oral hygiene. That includes visiting your dentist at least twice a year for a cleaning.

  1. It is very essential to maintain a good oral hygiene through natural ways. But it is equally important to visit a dentist as this will help in curing any dental problems at an early stage rather than it getting worse and costly. When i consulted dentist Mumbai i had to remove my tooth as it was too late and i suffered a tooth decay.
